Ashley Demland is a business attorney with a business mindset. With a background in science, Ashley has a particular focus on the health care sector, advising providers, groups, researchers, and innovators of all kinds.
There is a limitless variety of transactions businesses can accomplish. Traditionally this involves contract drafting and negotiations, mergers and acquisitions (stock sales and asset sales), shareholder negotiations (buy-sell agreements), succession planning, routine corporate governance (articles, bylaws, minutes, resolutions), and commercial real estate deals (leases and purchase agreements).
Today, most businesses also have questions about employment issues. This spans everything from hiring to firing and all the creative issues that arise in between. Never a dull moment!
Ideas matter. In fact, they might be your most valuable assets. Common intellectual property concerns include protecting and licensing trademarks, navigating copyright issues, and protecting valuable trade secrets (customer lists, inventions).
If your business has been sued, or it needs to bring a lawsuit to protect its interests, you are in good company. Disputes are common, and sometimes the only way to resolve them is through litigation. Having the right counsel on board can help you effectively manage the cost and overall impact litigation can have on you and your business.
Commercial litigation includes contract issues (breach of contract), partnership disagreements, intellectual property issues (ownership and use of copyrights, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets), fraud, commercial real estate problems, shareholder rights, employment disputes, business torts, allegations of unfair competition, and many others.
Ashley graduated cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2015. She won the Paul H. Casey and Milt Smith and James Richardson scholarships for business law, as well as the Jack Kennedy and Neva Elliott scholarships for evening students. She was an article editor on the Lewis & Clark Law review, which historically emphasized developments in commercial law. She externed for the Hon. Michael W. Mosman at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. She also clerked for Administrative Law Judge Sam Petrillo at the Bonneville Power Administration and worked as a law clerk and business analyst for BPA. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati.
